Friends: Cheaper than Therapy X Last Hurrah
Part art therapy, part peer support workshop, part group healing, 100% fun, this unique experience draws on the wisdom of past generations to bring people together.
Why is death such a taboo topic in Western secular societies?
What are some ideas about death that help us to live a better, happier life?
Is fear holding us back from understanding our purpose and living life to the fullest?
How do we want to be remembered?
Inspired by the theme of Carpe Diem (seize the day) we will tackle these topics together to build mental fitness.
Special guest is Nastassia (Stass) Jones, Founding Partner at Last Hurrah Funerals.
Stass together with business partner and long-time friend, Kimba Griffith and the Last Hurrah team create original funerals for unique people. Stass and Kimba collaborate with family and friends of the person who has died, and draw on storytelling, music, poetry, art and cultural traditions to create authentic, heartfelt and memorable sendoffs.
Following a short presentation, we will discuss the things that matter with a culturally sensitive and refreshingly humorous approach.
We will consider the importance of ritual and ceremony to the grieving process.
Together, using basic art materials, we will create our very own healing tree. There will be music. There will be laughter. And of course, there will be beer.
The venue is Co-Conspirators Brewpub, 377 Victoria Street, Brunswick (off Sydney Road)
No joining fee, no contracts, no expectations, drinks at bar prices.
The event is a fundraiser for Gotcha4Life, Australia’s leading mental fitness charity that works with communities across Australia to prevent suicide.
Tickets are $10 (donated to Gotcha4Life)
Places are capped at 20.
