PETER ACCADIA
Bespoke Ceramic Urns
We feel incredibly lucky to be able to offer a selection of hand-thrown and completely unique urns made by the late master potter, Peter Accadia. We cared for Peter after his death in 2025 and worked with his wife and muse Noriko to create a special send off at Monsalvat for him.
Peter completed his ceramics diploma at RMIT, and had incredibly long associations with La Trobe University, holding an artist in residence there for decades. Working in Stoneware, Porcelain and occasionally Raku, Peter crafted each clay body and made glazes, constantly innovating in these areas. His Copper red and Celadon wares were striking, and he had a deep affection for Japanese Shino glaze.
Another innovation in Peter’s work was his experimentation with Saggar firing, involving firing pieces inside ceramic containers which contain various combustible materials such as shells, paper, wood and even spent grapes to personalise his pieces.
Peter’s Exhibition in September 2022 was particularly lauded with Japanese Consul-General SHIMADA Junji writing
‘Mr Accadia usually has a gentle look in his eyes, but once he looks at his work, I can sense the sharp gaze of a true professional. The reason why Mr Accadia’s work is unique is because of his own developed techniques.”
We are extremely proud to offer a selection of Peter’s works – there will never be any more of these, so if you’re looking for something incredibly beautiful, tenderly made, and unique – look no further.
