Born in 2019, The Last Hurrah Funerals started with a very simple mission: First, to offer reasonably priced funerals and uniquely personal farewells and end of life rituals that reflected each individual’s authentic original self. Second, to offer a gentle and secure circle of support to those grieving a loss.
Since that time we have built a fully independent business that includes a funeral service conducting more than 220 funerals a year, a trade mortuary, and 300 person venue for funerals, weddings and other community events. We’re also in the midst of having a documentary made about our work, funded by Screen Australia, Documentary Australia, and The Melbourne International Film Festival, due for release in 2027.
In an offbeat funeral home, an eclectic team of women are revolutionising the experience of death, blending dark humour and unconventional rituals to redefine the way we grieve and how we farewell our loved ones.
